The Department of Information Systems has been training specialists in the field of information technology since 1992 and is a structural unit of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Energy and Information Technologies of Kostanay Regional University named after A. Baitursynuly.
The goal of the department is to improve the quality of educational services, to carry out educational, scientific and educational activities at a level that provides education consumers with services that meet modern educational standards.
The work of the department is aimed at training specialists with deep theoretical and practical training, solid professional knowledge, skills and abilities that meet the state educational standards of the specialty.
The department has a good material and technical base and qualified teaching staff, which allows students to gain professional high-quality knowledge and become specialists in the field of information and telecommunication technologies, communication systems and management.
The history of the Department of Information Systems dates back to 1992, when, in connection with the formation of the Department of Applied Mathematics on the basis of Kostanay State University named after A. Baitursynov. Since this period, the department has been training specialists qualified as applied mathematicians in economics.
The first head of the department in 1992 was appointed a teacher with many years of experience, a specialist in the field of computer science, associate professor Geweiler Gennady Nikolaevich. In 1996, after completing graduate school in Kiev and successfully defending his Ph.D. thesis, Marat Umirbekovich Kalzhanov was appointed head of the department.
Since 2001, the department worked as part of the Faculty of Economics and was reorganized into the Department of Higher Mathematics and Information Systems under the leadership of Professor, Ph.D. Kuzhukeev Zhenis Murzataevich and trained specialists in information systems in economics.
In 2006, candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, associate professor Abatov Nurlybay Tolepbergenovich was appointed head of the department of information systems, who in 2008 became dean of the faculty of information technology.
In 2008-2015 The department of information systems was headed by candidate of economic sciences Zhunusov Kuat Muratovich, who has been working at the department since 1995.
From 2015 to September 2018, the department was headed by Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Baymankulov Abdykarim Tungushbaevich.
From September 2018 to the present, the department is headed by PhD Kuzenbaev Batyrkhan Amanzholovich.
6B06102 Information systems provides the following educational programs:
- Information systems management. Training of qualified specialists who possess highly effective methods for designing business processes of economic information systems, using methods of economic, mathematical and computer modeling, for the implementation of business solutions in Internet systems that have modern information technologies for management and financial accounting, logistics on the 1C: Enterprise platform.
- Information systems in telecommunications, communication and control systems. Training of qualified specialists in the operation of telecommunications equipment, local area network equipment, servers and personal computers, in the design of computer and telecommunication networks, ensuring their protection and reliability of information transmission, according to the principles of constructing Web models in Internet systems.
Graduates of the department are specialists who provide design, adjustment and hardware and software operation of information systems, telecommunications and communication networks (including corporate, regional and global systems and networks operating on the basis of wired, fiber-optic, radio and satellite lines), can work with information technologies and systems in economics and finance, which are built on the basis of high-tech management and communication technologies.
A Bachelor of Information Systems is able to provide technical and software support for communication networks of various technologies and service levels, information systems in the economy, infocommunication networks, the Internet, etc.
Our graduates can be found in telecommunications companies, consulting and computer firms, advertising and publishing companies, banks and insurance companies, tax and customs systems, financial and government agencies, large manufacturing enterprises in the Kostanay region and Kazakhstan, and in local administrations.
