The Department of Information Systems has been training specialists in Information Systems since 1992.
An information system (IS) is a system for automating the activities of organizations, which includes: technical support (a set of technical means for the operation of the system); software and mathematical support; information support and technologies; organizational, methodological and legal support.
An information systems specialist develops, implements and maintains various information systems.
Information systems are used in all spheres of activity and solve a wide variety of tasks. And for each IP, specialists are required: from the moment of its design and development to implementation at the enterprise for the entire period of validity.
The department has all three levels of education: bachelor's degree, Master's degree and doctoral degree. The training of specialists is conducted both in the state and Russian languages.
Students study a large list of disciplines related to software and hardware of information systems. In the course of training, much attention is paid to the disciplines devoted to programming and software tools.
The educational program is designed in accordance with the requirements of employers. High-quality training of specialists is facilitated by the involvement of specialists from leading IT enterprises and organizations, as well as domestic and foreign scientists
The department has educational and scientific laboratories: laboratory of "Architecture of Computer Systems", сomputer center.

In 2022, 4098 grants were allocated in the direction of Bachelor's degree B057-Information Technology.
For admission (for school graduates):
- Profile subjects UNT: Mathematics, Computer science
- Passing score: 50
For admission: (for college graduates):
- Profile subjects UNT: Mathematics, Fundamentals of algorithmization and programming
- To apply for a grant after college, it is usually enough to score 25 points (this is the threshold). It is not necessary to take a test for admission to a paid basis.
